Fort Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) May 13, 2008 -- Utilizing robust, proprietary video conferencing software and a broadband connection, several laparoscopic surgeries have been broadcast in real-time allowing telementoring of other surgeons worldwide. "SecureNET 2008 allows for easy integration with multiple laparoscopic devices," says Karl Bittner, President of Global Video Networx. The video conferencing software was successfully integrated with Storz, Stryker, and Olympus endoscopic equipment and allowed surgeons from around the globe to watch and participate in these tele-educational events.
Jonathan S. Ware, EMT, MD, stated, "Telementoring is a critical element that allows highly skilled surgeons to share with and empower physicians abroad without the need for travel." Mixing the fields of information technology and advanced surgical techniques creates the perfect distance learning environment.
SecureNET 2008 made it easy for participants to collaborate with imbedded multiparty voice and video connectivity; interactive whiteboard; text messaging; question and answer forums; web browsing; and PowerPoint presentations. The video conferences can be recorded for viewing by authorized participants at a later time as well.
